Center for Pain Management Opens Indianapolis Urgent Spine Care Center for Immediate Pain Treatment
Urgent Spine Care Center Opens in Indianapolis to Provide Immediate Care and Relief from Severe and Acute Back, Neck, Leg and Spinal Pain
INDIANAPOLIS (October 26, 2009) – Indianapolis now has a new specialty immediate care medical resource for the relief of severe back, neck, leg or spinal pain. The Urgent Spine Care Center opened today at 8805 North Meridian, to provide rapid diagnosis and treatments for adults suffering from short-term, acute pain that keeps them from comfortably performing their daily home, work, family or leisure activities. A division of the Center for Pain Management, the new clinic has hired a fourth board-certified interventional pain management physician to handle an anticipated 20 percent increase in patient volume for spine pain treatment and procedures over the next year.
The Urgent Spine Care Center accepts most insurance plans and offers scheduled appointments between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Patients should be seen by a pain specialist at the Urgent Care Center if the spine, back or neck pain has been present for less than one month, medications no longer lessen the pain or the pain keeps the patient from completing routine daily activities.
“Back and neck pains stem from injury and trauma to the spine and should be diagnosed and treated by a physician clinically trained in spine care,” said Dr. Edward Kowlowitz, medical director and founder of the Center for Pain Management, which has been in operation since 1991, and the Urgent Spine Care Center. “Acute injuries to the spine that are not properly diagnosed or treated could lead to chronic, long-term pain and debilitation potentially culminating in expensive medical treatment, medication dependence, time off work and lost wages. Seeking care at a facility that specializes in the treatment of spinal pain results in faster diagnosis, treatment and return to work or activities.”
Patients of the Urgent Spine Care Center will be seen by one of four pain management specialists who will diagnose the injury and prescribe a plan of care that could include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or interventional procedures such as nerve blocks. Physical therapists will not only facilitate therapeutic exercise to increase mobility, but provide education to help the patient become more aware of proper ergonomics and body mechanics to prevent future spine injury.
