INDIANAPOLIS (September 9, 2009) — The Center for Pain Management, one of Central Indiana’s most experienced practices treating patients with back, head, neck or cancer-related pain, announces the addition of Jocelyn L. Bush, M.D. to its medical staff. A board certified pain management specialist and anesthesiologist, Dr. Bush is joining the practice to help meet the needs of a growing number of area residents seeking relief for acute, chronic and difficult-to-treat pain.

“Dr. Bush will help facilitate the continued expansion of our practice by enabling all of our physicians to better meet the chronic and acute pain management needs of patients,” stated Ed Kowlowitz, M.D., board-certified in anesthesia and pain management, owner and medical director of the Center for Pain Management. “Her focus is not only on alleviating long-term pain symptoms, but also providing treatment to patients who are seeking immediate relief from the sudden onset of back, neck, muscle or joint pain.”

Bush, an Indianapolis native, is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Chicago’s medical school. She completed a prestigious residency and fellowship at the University of Chicago in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management. While practicing in the university’s esteemed pain management center, Bush developed a passion for the specialized field of interventional pain management. Her experience includes interventional pain procedures, neuromodulation, and medication and multidisciplinary management, and she is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

“She is coming aboard at a critical time of growth for us,” added Kowlowitz. “With her extensive background and training, she is a welcomed asset to our team.”

Since 1992, the Center’s board-certified pain physicians have been treating patients with chronic pain, including conditions such as herniated discs, spinal arthritis and continued pain following spine surgery. With the practice’s additional acute pain focus, adults experiencing the sudden onset of back or neck pain can secure an appointment with one of the Center’s pain specialists within 48 hours. Appropriate patients for this program have experienced back or neck pain for less than one month.
